Bessie C. Farnham, age 92, of 1 South Home Avenue, Topton PA, formerly of Ithaca NY, died Friday, June 23, 2000 in Henry Health Care Center at The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of the late William H. Farnham who died in 1985.

Born in Fredonia NY, she was the daughter of the late Levi D. and the late Ida H. (Frone) Cowden. She was a teacher at the Cayuga Heights School in Ithaca NY for many years. After her retirement she she served as a member of the Board of Director’s of the Tompkins County Hospital and also volunteered in the pediatrics unit. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ Church, Ithica NY. She was a member of the Cornell University Law Wives Club, the Garden Club of Ithaca, and Delta Kappa Gamma Education Honorary Society.

She is survived by Daughter, Janet (Farnham) Farnham, PhD, widow of Theodore Birnbaum of Ossining NY; Step-Daughter, Faith (Farnham) wife of Professor James Kuppers of Charlotte NC; Sisters, Ethel (Cowden), widow of Col. F. J. Goatley, Cambridge City IN and Ruth (Cowden), widow of Ray C. Witter, Saranac Lake NY; Nine Grandchildren and Eleven Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by a Son, William Farnham who died June 6, 1998.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Ithaca NY.
