Ralph E. Dietrich

Ralph E. Dietrich, 74, of Church Road, Kutztown (Maxatawny Township), died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, where he had been a patient for one day. He was the husband of Betty J. (Herber) Dietrich. They were married on July 22, 1950.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late Warren D. and the late Mary A. (Haas) Dietrich. He was a mechanic for over 40 years at the former Wenton Shoe Company, last known as Addidas, Kutztown; and he was a mold cleaner for 7 years at John Medernach & Co., Inc., Fullerton, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the UCC Congregation of Zion’s Union Church, Maxatawny, where he was an elder, past deacon and consistory member for 24 years. His wife and he were sextons of the church since 1980.

He is survived by Wife, Daughter, Donna L. (Dietrich) VanDeCar, Kutztown; Son, David W. Herber, Kutztown; Brother, Roseller R. Dietrich, Maxatawny; 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services are Friday, February 10, 2006 at 10:30 AM in Zion’s Union Church, Route 222, Maxatawny. Interment in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Maxatawny. Friends may call Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.

The family requests contributions to the Memorial Fund of Zion’s Union Church, PO Box 100, Maxatawny, 19538. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
