Paul J. Mertz
Paul J. Mertz, 79, formerly of Smoketown Road, Mertztown, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006 in Berks Heim, Bern Township, where he had been a resident since December 2004.
Born in Rockland Township, Berks County, PA he was a son of the late Paul W. and Helen L. (Geist) Mertz. He was an assembler and painter at the former Caloric Corp., Topton, for 34 years retiring in 1978. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a life member of the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Topton, and the Pikeville Sportsman’s Association. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf.
He is survived by Sister, Frona S. E. wife of Donald R. Dry, Kutztown, Brother, Eugene W. Mertz, Reading.
Funeral Services are Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street. Interment with Military Honors in the Union Cemetery of Bowers, Bowers. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
