Harold P. Shoemaker
Harold P. Shoemaker, 83, of Longswamp Township, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in his residence. He was the husband of Ruby C. (Romig) Shoemaker. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on April 26th.
Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late Harry and Vesta (Gerhardt) Shoemaker. He was a member of Longswamp UCC Church, Mertztown, PA. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Mertztown for 25 years, retiring in 1986. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Longswamp Township in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
He is survived by Wife, Sons, David L. Shoemaker, Sellersville, PA and Dennis W., husband of Kris A. (Oswald) Shoemaker, Mertztown, PA; Brother, Carl W., husband of Marjorie (Arndt) Shoemaker, Wescosville, PA. In addition, there are 2 Granddaughters, Marci N. (Shoemaker) wife of Jason Werley and Megan A. Shoemaker. He was pre-deceased by a Son, Ronald D. Shoemaker in 1971.
Memorial Services are Monday, May 18, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., in Longswamp UCC Church, 200 Clay Road, Mertztown, PA 19539. Inurnment in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown with military honors provided by the Ray A. Master Post #217 American Legion, Topton. Friends may call at the church Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
