Bertha A. Schlegel
Bertha A. (Fox) Schlegel, 92, formerly of Fleetwood, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she resided since August, 2006. She was the widow of C. Robert Schlegel.
Born in Hereford Township, she was a daughter of the late Frank B. and Elizabeth (Bauer) Fox. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. She was a representative for Avon for over 35 years and worked as a waitress at the former Kemp’s Hotel, Kutztown, for 25 years.
She is survived by Son, Kenneth L. husband of Fern I. (Nester) Schlegel, Macungie. In addition, there is a Grandson, Mark R. Schlegel companion of Dorothy McNally, Malvern, Chester County; Granddaughter, Amy J. (Schlegel) wife of Drew G. Confer, Boise, ID; Great Grandchildren, Katie D. and Powell M. Confer.
Funeral Services are Monday, October 19, 2009 at 10:30 AM from Henry Auditorium on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 South Home Avenue, Topton. Interment in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Rockland Township. Friends may call Monday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in Henry Auditorium.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 117 East Arch Street, Fleetwood, 19522 or Fleetwood Fire and Ambulance Company, 16 North Chestnut Street, Fleetwood, 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
