Arlene E. Geist
Arlene E. Geist, 87, of State Street, Mertztown (Longswamp Twp.), died Saturday, April 30, 2005, in Kutztown Manor Nursing Home, where she was a patient since April 6, 2005. She was married to the late George R. Geist who died March 1, 1965.
Born in the Village of Shamrock, Longswamp Twp., Berks County, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and the late Mary (Fegley) Eck. She was employed as a tool setter for Lucent Technology, Reading for 27 years until her retirement in 1983. Prior to that she was employed as a spot welder from 1945 to 1955 at the Caloric Corporation, at its former Topton Plant. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mertztown (Longswamp Twp.).
She is survived by Son, Russell G. Geist, Mertztown (Longswamp Twp.); 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Granddaughter. She was predeceased by Daughters, Mary Lou Geist who died in 1936, and Linda Lou Geist who died in 1952.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 10:30 AM from Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown, (Longswamp Twp.). Interment in Union Cemetery of Bowers (Maxatawny Twp.). Visitation with family Wednesday, 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the church.
The family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, 19605. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
