Anna Wawrzak
Anna Wawrzak, 98, formerly of Philadelphia and Bridgeport, Montgomery County, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Lutheran Home at Topton where she resided for 10 ½ months.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Jastrzebiec, Poland, she was a daughter of Sebastian and Franciszka Cwikla. Her husband, Lawrence Wawrzak, passed away April 3, 1969. Anna was employed as a custodian at Simon Gratz High School, Philadelphia, retiring in 1972. She was the devoted mother of John (deceased) husband of Palma (Sandor) Wawrzak, East Norriton, and Ann Pirnot, wife of Dr. Thomas L. Pirnot, Kutztown, with whom she lived for the past five years. Anna was proud of her grandchildren, John Wawrzak husband of Kimberly (Ross), Matthew L. Pirnot, Esq., husband of Dr. Dani R. Smith, Anthony V. Pirnot betrothed to Menaka Nayyar, Joanna (Pirnot) Eichenwald wife of Daniel and Michael T. Pirnot. Her great grandchildren, Laura and Kelli Wawrzak, Christian Pirnot and Benjamin Eichenwald brought her great joy. Anna will be remembered for her faith in God, love of family, inner strength, practical nature, positive attitude, and spirit of gratitude. Her thrifty habits and joy in cooking and family meals have been passed on to her grandchildren and she will be missed.
Anna is also survived by her brothers, Michal Cwikla, Jastrzebiec, Poland and Franciszek Cwikla, Bukowina, Poland. She was predeceased by her youngest brother, Wladyslaw Cwikla, Tarnogrod, Poland. Anna was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, 19530. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.
In addition to Mass cards, contributions may be made in Anna’s name to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
